Mindy Hirt
Mindy Hirt is an emerging artist based in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland area. Her art has been exhibited and held in museums, and private collections and she actively exhibits in the Washington Metro region.

Mindy was born in Westminster, Maryland in 1986. She received a BA from McDaniel College in Studio Art and Psychology and received her MFA from American University. Currently, Mindy lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland and is an adjunct professor at George Washington University and Harford Community College.

Mindy Hirt's work is generally related to action and methodology, often in response to physical space and time. The work is grounded in the process of making and the experience of site specificity. Ordered chaos, geometric vs. organic edifice and scientific investigations such as String Theory form the foundation of her research. Mindy's string installations are a response to not only architecture but also to the strength and form of the materials she uses. Her use of string presents a visual delicacy, balanced by the ample physicality and scale of the work. References to energy, memory, mapping, movement, growth, and object-ness often emerge. The next installation will be in Gulp Yarn Bang Exhibition at School 33 Gallery in Baltimore, MD.
